The New York Yankees find themselves with their back up against the wall heading into Game 3 of the 2024 World Series, trailing in the series 2-0 to the Los Angeles Dodgers. But a return to Yankee Stadium, which will include a special appearance from Derek Jeter, could be just what the doctor ordered to get them back on track.
Jeter, who of course earned the nickname “Mr. November” for his World Series heroics during his time with the Yankees, has been in attendance for each of the first two games of the series due to his duties on the Fox studio pre and postgame show.
However, “The Captain” will actively be taking part in the pregame festivities this time around in New York. On Monday, it was announced that Jeter will be throwing out the first pitch for Monday’s Game 3 matchup.
The first two games of the series in Los Angeles obviously didn’t go as many Yankees fans had hoped. But there is still hope amongst that fanbase that maybe Jeter’s public support could help them turn this series around.
“Maybe he can bring some inspiration because right now, they aren’t playing with any,” one fan wrote on X.
“The Captain is back at Yankee Stadium,” another fan excitedly wrote on X.
“Jeter is the GOAT. Let’s go,” wrote another Yankees fan.
If anyone has proven that they can bring hope to Yankees fans, it is someone like Jeter. And while he can’t suit up and play shortstop on Monday night, his presence is still obviously very valued amongst Yankees fans.
