Famed rapper and entertainer Sean “Diddy” Combs is in some serious legal trouble after he was arrested in New York and charged with crimes that included sex trafficking and racketeering. But before these accusations were brought to light, he was quite a revered entertainer – so much so that Taylor Swift even wanted him to be her prom date.
Back in 2011, when Taylor Swift was just 21 years old, and well before she started dating Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce, she appeared on the “Rachael Ray” Show where she was asked a few rapid-fire questions that she answered by holding up photos of various music superstars.
One of those questions was who she would want to take to prom. Instead of choosing one hypothetical date, Swift chose what she said would be “a really fun group.”
“It would be a group, and it would be a really fun group,” Swift said according to Page Six.
“Boy, you’re going on a freaky prom date,” Ray responded.
Eventually Swift held up five photos: Diddy, Katy Perry, Jennifer Lopez, Justin Timberlake, and Sheryl Crow.
Swift explained her choice to include Diddy as she revealed that the entertainer was “very nice” to her.
“Diddy’s really always been very nice to me,” Swift said. “He would be fun to be in the prom group.”
“He’s a gentleman, isn’t he? He’s a lovely gentleman,” Ray responded.
Obviously, it’s rather shocking news that Swift wanted to attend prom with Diddy and spoke so highly of him given the accusations he new faces, and the whole situation led to a lot of reactions.
“She’s known for making poor choices,” one person wrote in the comments of the story.
“Just goes to show shes a really bad judge of character,” another person added.
“Swift is showing great judgment,” another person said sarcastically.
“Yeah… Her track record with men hasn’t exactly been stellar,” another person added.
“I have always thought that this woman was an immoral,” another person said.
“Sad. Get some common sense,” someone else added.
Obviously, these are just average, everyday people offering their thoughts on the situation, but it’s a good sample of the general sentiment surrounding the news.
It’s worth noting that this does not link Swift to anything nefarious or illegal and there is no evidence at all that she was involved in or knew about any of the crimes that Diddy has been accused of.
Still, it’s rather shocking to hear her speak that way about Diddy given all the accusations he new faces.
