The Met Gala is always a must-see event, as the world’s top celebrities and athletes are all in the same place and dressed in stunning attire. Only now there’s been a wrinkled added. Prominent pop culture Twitter account Pop Base reported on the new development on Wednesday.
“The theme for the 2025 Met Gala will be ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style’ — based on the style of Black men throughout history. Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, Anna Wintour and LeBron James will be the co-chairs,” Pop Base tweeted.

Fans online reacted to the news that the event would be centered on the fashion of black men now.
“Making the theme based on black style knowing how many non-black people attend the Met Gala is definitely… a choice,” one fan said on Twitter.
“I hate this theme, ngl cause this an opportunity for nonBlacks to appropriate,” another person wrote.
“Wait so is everyone basically gonna be doing blackface then…? how does that work,” a fan added.
“‘Based on the style of black men’. So women won’t be in attendance or are we erasing black women when it comes to celebrating black culture again?” someone else asked.
“This is about to be a disaster,” one fan said.
It’s good to know that respected figures like LeBron James will be in charge, but it’s hard to imagine this going well with all of the cultural ramifications.
