Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce is off to a slow start to the season, but one NFL legend seems to think that it’s only a matter of time before he starts to put up his typical stats again.
Through the first three games of the season, Travis Kelce totaled just eight catches for 69 yards – far below his typical production.
Kelce was able to break out of that slump a little bit during this week’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers, finishing with seven catches for 89 yards in the game, but he still did not look like the dominant player fans have become used to.
But Kansas City Chiefs legend Tony Gonzalez seems to think he’ll get back to that as the season goes on.
During an appearance on Good Morning Football on Thursday morning, Anthony Gonzalez had a pretty clear warning to the NFL about Travis Kelce.
“He’s gonna start heating up. You’re going to see the old Travis,” Gonzalez said according to Kyle Brandt of Good Morning Football.
Before his slow start to this season, Kelce had established himself as one of the most dominant receiving tight ends in the history of the game.
In fact, Kelce passed Gonzalez on Sunday to become the Chiefs’ all-time receptions leader.
We’ll have to see if Gonzalez’s warning holds true.
