During Sunday afternoon’s game against the Dallas Cowboys, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson could be heard yelling “Stop cheating us, bro!”
While the comments were widely assumed to be directed at the referees, Lamar Jackson insists that’s actually not the case.
During a press conference this week, Lamar Jackson claimed he was not talking about the referees as he sent a pretty clear message of support and understanding to the officials for the hard work that they do.
“I wasn’t mad at the refs,” Jackson said according to Pro Football Talk.
“The refs are going to do their job — they’re doing their job,” Jackson said. “Whatever they see, they’re going to call it. They only got two eyes. They can’t see everything. There’s probably holding, there’s probably all types of things happening on every play. I was like, ‘Stop cheating us,’ but I wasn’t talking to them. I’m just talking out into the world. I’m playing football. I’m trying to win. That’s all.”
The Ravens were able to hold on to their lead and come away with a victory over the Cowboys despite a late surge from Dallas.
With the win, Baltimore moved to 1-2 on the season after losses to the Kansas City Chiefs and the Las Vegas Raiders to open the season.
The Ravens are now set for a showdown with the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night.
