Through the first two weeks of the season, the New York Giants have gotten off to a brutal start. It’s been so ugly in New York that now head coach Brian Daboll is already addressing rumors about his job security.
The Giants lost to their division rival Washington Commanders on Sunday in embarrassing fashion. According to Pro Football Talk, the 21-18 loss marked only the second time in history scored three touchdowns and lost to a team that didn’t score any.
After the game, Daboll was asked about the decision not to call up a kicker from practice squad after starting kicker Graham Hano hurt his groin in practice.
Gano injured his hamstring on the opening kickoff and his absence impacted the rest of the game. The Giants weren’t able to cash in on extra points after any of their three touchdowns without a kicker.
The kicking situation was put on the backburner so Daboll could address whether he was considering his future as head coach of the Giants.
“I’ve done this for a long time. My focus is on our football team,” Daboll said.
Regardless of whether or not he’s focusing on his job security, Daboll will have to turn things around if he wants to keep his job. The Giants are only 6-13 since the start of last season.
Daboll’s next opportunity to show he’s the man for the job comes next Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.
