The Dallas Cowboys got off to the exact start they envisioned, rolling into Sunday’s contest against the Cleveland Browns, where the Cowboys easily dispatched their opponent 33-17. It set the tone for what Dallas wants to be a landmark season after securing stars Ceedee Lamb and Dak Prescott to historic contracts over the offseason.
Unfortunately, Dallas didn’t come out of Sunday’s victory completely unscathed.
Tight end Jake Ferguson went down with a knee injury. It was not initially believed to be an ACL tear after tests and negative X-rays, but the Cowboys were awaiting final word from an MRI on Monday.
Prescott told reporters Sunday, “I think we dodged a big one.”
The MRI brought a sigh of relief across the Cowboys’ organization. According to league insider Ian Rapoport, tests confirmed that Ferguson suffered an MCL sprain. He’ll still miss time, but he’ll be available again at some point in the season.

Needless to say, this is some surprising good news for the Cowboys given how serious the injury appeared to be initially.

Fantastic news.
Now hope it’s not related to high ankle or MCL tear. Sounds like timeline may be much shorter than originally thought. https://t.co/gAMUpctw8g

This is welcome news to the Cowboys and Prescott, who will need every weapon at his disposal to get the Cowboys back to the Super Bowl and provide Dallas a return on the earth-shattering contract he signed just before kickoff Sunday.
