Donald Trump is once again postponing g a controversial fundraiser at his famous golf resort in Bedminster, New Jersey.
The Trump campaign was set to host the “J6 Awards Gala” fundraiser on Thursday. Former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani, since disbarred as a lawyer and mired in several controversies amid financial troubles, was set to speak at the event.
The website now lists the event as “postponed” and its location as “undetermined.”
According to MSNBC, the event was touted as a “celebration” of the January 6th defendants and a fundraiser for their legal fees.
The tickets ranged from $1,500 per person for general admission to $50,000 for a “platinum table” for 12 at the VIP reception.
Trump was tabbed as an “invited speaker,” but was not expected to attend the event, per MSNBC.
Trump is currently locked in a heated campaign with Vice President Kamala Harris, after President Joe Biden somewhat surprisingly made the decision to exit the race due to concerns about his increasing age.
As other outlets have noted, it’s not entirely shocking that Trump postponed the event as he faces criminal charges pertaining to how, exactly, he might have influenced his supporters’ actions on that fateful day in American history. But it’s a pretty clear betrayal as he declines to celebrate them at his golf resort.
