After the departure of previous starting quarterback Kyle McCord who transferred to Syracuse this offseason, the Ohio State Buckeyes will have a new starting quarterback this fall, and we now officially know who it is.
On Thursday afternoon, Ohio State head coach Ryan Day announced that Kansas State Wildcats transfer quarterback Will Howard will be the team’s starting quarterback this season.
“We are excited about Will being the starter,” Day said according to Chase Brown of Eleven Warriors. “You feel him in the huddle. You feel his experience.”
The senior quarterback signed with Ohio State this offseason out of the transfer portal, joining the Buckeyes over other programs like the USC Trojans.
Last season, Howard started all 12 of Kansas State’s regular-season games in 2023 and completed 61.3% of his passes for 2,643 yards and 24 touchdowns with 10 interceptions, earning second-team All-Big 12 honors.
Howard will take over as the starting quarterback of a team that is widely considered one of the most talented in the country as the Buckeyes look to contend for a national title. He will have one of the most talented groups of wide receivers in the country and will share a backfield with perhaps the best running back combo in college football.
