The New England Patriots have been linked to a potential blockbuster trade with the San Francisco 49ers that would send superstar wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk to New England. But Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo did not want to talk about it.
During a press conference on Tuesday, Jerod Mayo made it pretty clear that he would not be answering any questions about the potential trade.
“I know what all you guys want to know, but one thing I learned from Bill [Belichick] is I don’t talk about players on other teams, so let me just go ahead and say that now,” Mayo said according to Pro Football Talk. “Let me say that as a player, I appreciated that — I appreciated that the only opinions that mattered were inside the walls. So, I’m still trying to apply that now going forward.”
That obviously did not stop reporters from asking him about the possible trade anyway, but Mayo refused to answer the questions.
“I’ll be honest with you, that’s more of an Eliot question,” Mayo said. “Right now, I’m just focused on the guys out here — the New England Patriots.”
We’ll have to see whether or not the trade happens, but we won’t get any news about it from Mayo.
