The Los Angeles Dodgers double-dipped for two potentially crucial pieces to their puzzle this year. They acquired outfielder Kevin Kiermaier and starting pitcher Jack Flaherty.
Flaherty was thought to be one of the most sought-after starting pitchers on the market. Since neither Blake Snell nor Garrett Crochet was traded, Flaherty is probably the biggest name dealt on Tuesday.
ESPN MLB insider Jeff Passan and MLB reporter Robert Murray reported the terms of each deal. Ryan Yarbrough heads to Toronto in exchange for Kiermaier, while a pair of prospects, Thayron Liranzo and Trey Sweeney, go to Detroit.

Kiermaier has been a well-traveled outfielder who now heads out to the National League. He spent a great chunk of his career thus far in the American League East. KIermaier has been with the Tampa Bay Rays and comes to the Dodgers from the Toronto Blue Jays.
Flaherty, meanwhile, is no stranger to the National League. He first began his career with the St. Louis Cardinals and earned Cy Young consideration after a terrific 2019 season. Since then, he’s been in the American League, playing for the Baltimore Orioles and Detroit Tigers.
The Dodgers hope this season will result in another World Series championship. The team last won the World Series during the COVID-shortened 2020 campaign.
