Last college football season, the biggest story around the country was the Michigan Wolverines alleged illegal sign-stealing scandal. And after a lengthy NCAA investigation, it sounds like the Wolverines could be hit with a notice of allegations and a possible punishment as early as this week.
According to a report from Michigan Wolverines insider Chris Balas of The Wolverine in the On3 Sports network, the NCAA is prepared to issue a Notice of Allegations against Michigan as soon as Tuesday related to the illegal sign-stealing operation. The report indicates that Michigan is expected to be hit with Level I violations for the off-campus, in-person scouting operation that was led by former staffer Connor Stalions, who has since been fired.
A source indicated to Balas that the NCAA is expected to give Michigan a postseason ban of one or two years, which the Wolverines would appeal. However, Balas also reported that Michigan’s national championship and wins from the last three seasons are not expected to be vacated.
Obviously, this is some pretty significant news, and it led to a lot of reactions on social media as a result.
You wouldn’t have to “prepare for a fight” if you didn’t cheat

For which scandal? You only have about 3 on going investigations.
Anything short of vacated wins over the last 3 seasons is too lenient and unjust. 2023 should go down as the first season without a National Champion. https://t.co/ZQ00Gp6lkV

We’ll have to see whether or not the Notice of Allegations does indeed come this week.
