Over the weekend, the Green Bay Packers signed starting quarterback Jordan Love to a massive four-year contract extension that makes him the highest-paid player in the entire league. His new contract could have major ramifications for Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott who is also in need of a new contract, but Cowboys owner Jerry Jones didn’t want to talk about it.
During a press conference on Sunday, Jerry Jones was asked about how Jordan Love’s deal could impact Dallas’ negotiations with Dak Prescott. He didn’t have much to say, but he did send a pretty clear message to Prescott about just how much he appreciates his leadership.
“It’s what it is,” Jones said. “What I do appreciate is Dak is here and getting going, practicing. “Some of these guys aren’t. That shows you the dedication Dak has. That’s a big deal. In his spot, he’s the best leader I’ve ever seen. This is why, frankly, he’s out here practicing. It’s what he signed up to do.”
Jones was not willing to compare the situations between Prescott and Love, but he did indicate that he’s excited to watch Prescott play this season.
“I get in trouble when I make comparisons,” he said. “I’m anxious for Dak to show that he’s the best with that Cowboys star.”
Jones also made it clear that he thinks it’s possible Prescott and the team work out a new deal before the end of the offseason.
