Caitlin Clark was controversially left off of the Team USA roster for the upcoming Paris Olympic Games, but she did make the WNBA All-Star team, giving her a chance to compete against Team USA before the Olympics. And she made the most of it, much to the displeasure of Team USA legend Diana Taurasi.
Though she did not score a lot in the game, finishing with just four points, Caitlin Clark led all players with 10 assists, nearly breaking Sue Bird’s record of 11 assists in an All-Star game. Thanks in large part to her passing, Team WNBA beat Team USA by a score of 117 to 109.
After the game, Diana Taurasi was not pleased with the loss, and she made it very clear in her comments to her team.
“This [freaking] sucks. It’s a good reminder, we gotta come to play no matter who we are,” Taurasi told her Team USA teammates after the loss to Team WNBA.
Of course, Team USA is still widely favored to win the gold medal at the upcoming Paris Olympic games and is expected to be the most dominant team at the games, but that doesn’t make this loss any easier for the players.
