With Quinn Ewers returning to the Texas Longhorns for the 2024 season, many thought that we could see former top recruit Arch Manning potentially enter the transfer portal this offseason. But instead, Manning is sticking it out with the Longhorns, a move that has garnered some positive reactions from a legend at his position.
Peyton Manning, Arch’s uncle, spoke about his nephew’s decision to stay at Texas during a guest appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Thursday, saying that he is “proud” of how he has handled himself at the program.
“My allegiances are always to the Tennessee Volunteers,” said Manning, an alumnus of Tennessee. “But I’m pulling hard for my nephew. I’m proud of him for how he has handled himself at Texas. Looking forward to watching him throughout his career there.”
"I think it's gonna be awesome to have Texas in the SEC..
My allegiances are always to the Tennessee Volunteers but I'm proud of my nephew for having a chance to play in this conference"

In this age of college football where players are transferring left and right for a number of different reasons, Arch has decided to go with what has become the traditional route.
Only time will tell whether that pays off for him when he does one day get his crack at starting. But sitting behind a player like Quinn Ewers who is widely expected to be an NFL quarterback one day certainly seems like it could help Arch in his own development as a player.
