Obviously, Bronny James was the most high-profile selection for the Los Angeles Lakers in last month’s NBA Draft, even if he was not selected until the second round. But it sounds like LeBron James is still quite pleased with the player that the Lakers selected in the first round, too.
According to Yahoo Sports, LeBron James did not hold back when he was discussing Los Angeles Lakers first-round pick Dalton Knecht as he claimed that the former Tennessee Volunteers superstar was his favorite player in the entire country – outside of his son, Bronny, of course.
“Dalton, besides Bronny, was my favorite player in college basketball… I did not think he would fall to 17 at all,” LeBron said according to Yahoo Sports.
Knecht was named the SEC Player of the Year last season as well as consensus First-Team All-American honors after he finished the season with 21.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game. He led the team to a 27-9 overall record and the SEC regular season title as well as a run through the NCAA Tournament all the way to the Elite Eight.
Needless to say, LeBron James was quite clearly impressed with what he saw from Knecht and is excited to play with him.
