Ever since he began dating pop sensation Taylor Swift, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has become one of the most popular athletes on the planet. Naturally, it would make sense that Netflix would want to capitalize on this newfound superstardom – and the attention from the Swifties – and include him in an upcoming reality show. But Kelce wasn’t willing to do it.
During an appearance on the “Bussin’ with The Boys” podcast last week, Travis Kelce revealed that Netflix approached him about being a subject on the new docuseries Receiver – a spin-off of the popular Quarterback that featured Kelce’s teammate Patrick Mahomes last year. But Kelce turned them down.
“After (Patrick Mahomes) did (Quarterback), I did get asked about it,” Kelce said. “I just — I don’t know. I’d rather just play ball, man. I’m already doing enough with the podcast and everything. I’m way over the reality [stuff], dude. I’m out on that [stuff].”
With Kelce out, Receiver will feature Las Vegas Raiders receiver Davante Adams, Minnesota Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson, San Francisco 49ers receiver Deebo Samuel, and Detroit Lions receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown in addition to Niners star tight end George Kittle, who presumably took Kelce’s spot after he declined.
