Donald Trump-branded luxury golf courses are coming to Indonesia after a years-long delay, according to a report from Norman Harsono of Bloomberg.
The deal reportedly hinges on the former president’s close relationship with the founder of MNC Land, the Indonesian property developer.
Founder Hary Tanoesoedibjo has bragged about his close access to the Republican Party’s 2024 presidential nominee, according to various media reports.
A stock exchange filing says the Trump International Gol-Lido will open this month about an hour’s drive from the country’s capital city of Jakarta.
Donald Trump Jr. sparked the project with Tanoesoedibjon in 2019. The real estate firm, according to Bloomberg, originally stated the project would finish within three years.
Obviously, the tycoons missed that mark.
“I am confident Trump International Golf Club-Lido will soon be one of Indonesia’s most renowned golf courses,” Tanoesoedibjo said Wednesday per local reports.
Trump’s golf resort will feature “residential, commercial, and tourist destinations alongside integrated resorts.”
According to its website, “Trump Residences Lido sits within the 350-hectare expanse of MNC Lido City – Pride of the Nation, at the heart of West Java’s beautiful mountain ranges, approximately a one-hour drive from the bustling city of Jakarta.”
Trump also owns property in the Indonesian city of Bali.
