As the 2024 NFL season approaches, the New York Jets have hired one of their former star players as an assistant coach.
Taking to X on Sunday, Antonio Cromartie revealed that he has joined the Jets’ coaching staff for the remainder of the offseason via the NFL’s Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship, which is designed to provide coaches with the opportunity to observe, participate, gain experience and ultimately land full-time coaching positions in the league. Cromartie previously worked for the Jets as an intern under former head coach Todd Bowles in 2018 and later as a graduate assistant at Texas A&M under former head coach Jimbo Fisher. The 2007 All-Pro selection most recently served as a defensive analyst for the Saint Augustine University’s football team during the 2023 season.

A four-time Pro Bowl selection, Cromartie spent five of his 11 seasons in the NFL playing for the Jets over the course of two stints (2010-2013, 2015). In addition to the Jets, the Florida State product also played for the San Diego Chargers, Arizona Cardinals and Indianapolis Colts before retiring following the 2016 campaign.
