The Dallas Cowboys have a number of star players seeking contract extensions now and in the near future including star quarterback Dak Prescott, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, guard Zack Martin, and linebacker Micah Parsons. But one teammate doesn’t seem to think signing the team’s starting quarterback should be the priority.
During a recent appearance on “All Facts No Brakes” with Keyshawn Johnson, Cowboys safety Malik Hooker was asked which player should be prioritized the most when it comes to a contract extension, and he chose CeeDee Lamb over Dak Prescott or anybody else because he has “shown up in certain situations” more than the other players have.
“I feel like CeeDee should be paid first for the simple fact of what he does for us, how valuable he is for us [and] the leader he is for us as a team. You got to look at what’s going on around the league right now. All these big-time receivers are getting paid. In my mind, CeeDee — I’m not saying he’s better than these guys, but I feel like he has shown up in certain situations more than these guys have. … When he does get the ball thrown to him, it’s always a big play. It’s always something that’s electrifying for us as a team,” Hooker said according to The Spun.
It’s not clear whether or not that was intended to be a shot at Prescott, but it certainly comes off that way.
