Last season clearly did not go the way the Carolina Panthers had hoped after selecting Bryce Young as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft as the team finished with the worst record in the entire league. But it sounds like Young is doing everything he can to put the disappointment of last season behind him.
During a recent interview with Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports, Bryce Young opened up a little bit about the disappointment of last season as he made it clear that he doesn’t think the way the team performed last season has any bearing on their ability to perform this season, so he’s trying to let it go.
“I’m big on controlling what I can control and making sure that that’s what’s focusing,” Young told Jones. “Whatever happened the past year — the good, the bad, whatever. It’s not something that I can control. It’s not something that holds sway over what we’re doing anymore. So I think the more energy you put on stuff that doesn’t have any effect on what we’re trying to be. You can take away from the goal in itself.”
The Panthers added some talent on the offensive line and at the skill positions this offseason to make things a little bit easier on Young. We’ll have to see if that leads to better results this season.
