The New York Giants were not able to sign star running back Saquon Barkley to a contract extension this offseason, allowing him to leave the team and sign with the Philadelphia Eagles, instead. And one player seems to think that was a pretty devastating blow to Giants fans.
During a recent interview, Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham said that decision from Saquon Barkley to leave New York and sign with the Eagles “sucked for Giants fans.”
“It sucked for the Giants fans because that’s like us losing our top guy,” Graham said according to Paul Schwartz of the New York Post. “I understand business is business, but I know Saquon definitely is looking forward to this season.”
Graham is eagerly awaiting the upcoming matchups between the Eagles and the Giants as he thinks that they will have a little more juice given the Barkley storyline.
“That’s gonna be like how, you know how [Terrell Owens] went to Dallas and got booed?” Graham said. “It’s going to be one of those things. I know with [Barkley] he probably didn’t want to have to make that decision. We’re loving it because we definitely got a good player. Great dude, too. Just can’t wait to see what he does this year.”
“We know that people are pissed about it,” Graham added. “They hope that nothing comes of it. I know that’s how mad some people are about it.”
We’ll have to see how Barkley performs against his former team this upcoming season.
