Things did not work out between the Denver Broncos and Russell Wilson as the team decided to cut ties with the veteran quarterback this offseason and go in a different direction. But it won’t be long before the Broncos and Wilson meet again, and one of his former teammates in Denver seems excited to be playing against him.
Russell Wilson quickly signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers after parting ways with the Broncos, which sets up a bit of a reunion as the Steelers head to Denver in Week 2 for an early-season matchup with the Broncos. And Broncos linebacker Jonathan Griffith is already itching to make a play against his former quarterback.
During a recent interview on Denver Sports 104.3, Griffith called out Russell Wilson a little bit as he made it very clear that he wants to snag an interception from his former quarterback.
Jonas Griffith, on @DenSports1043 talking about facing Russell Wilson's Steelers: "I want to pick off Russ, for sure. I think that would be really cool, just to pick him off — & get the victory, first & foremost."@I_CU_boy: "If you sack Russ, are you gonna say, 'Let's ride'?" pic.twitter.com/NA4I1dAZnS

“I’m really excited obviously for any game I get to play in,” Griffith said. “But you see that one you’re excited to go out there and — beat the Steelers, first of all, it’s a great organization. I want to pick off Russ, for sure. I think that would be really cool, just to pick him off and get the victory, first and foremost.”
We’ll have to see how he performs against his former quarterback. And perhaps more importantly, we’ll have to see how Wilson performs against his former team.
