The United States Men’s National Team is set to take on Panama in its second game of the Copa America soccer tournament on Thursday night. But thanks to some deception from the outlet broadcasting the match, fans might have a hard time determining when it actually starts.
As Awful Announcing pointed out on social media this week, Fox has been suggesting that the match starts at 5 p.m. in many of its advertising on the network this week. In reality, however, the match does not start until 6 p.m. – Fox’s studio coverage just begins at 5 p.m. and they are trying to trick people into tuning in early.
“The game is at 6pm ET FWIW,” Awful Announcing said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

This is not the first time that Fox has done this, either. Fox used the same deception ahead of the USMNT’s showdown with Bolivia over the weekend, as well.
“PSA- Fox is purposely being inconsistent on communicating tonight’s USMNT kickoff time. It’s 6PM ET if you’re not trying to watch an hour of pregame,” Awful Announcing said in a post over the weekend.

It’s clearly a blatant lie from Fox, and they got called out for it.
