Legendary Notre Dame Fighting Irish head coach Lou Holtz has not been shy about sharing his controversial views and beliefs in recent years, and that trend continued on Sunday when he spoke out against transgender athletes in a post on social media.
Lou Holtz has been pretty open about his conservative viewpoints, especially in recent years, and he did not hold back in sharing his opinion on transgender athletes on Sunday, calling it “crazy” to allow transgender women to compete in women’s sports.
“I was happy when Title IX came out. But here we are, many years later, and now we can’t even ensure women competing against women. It’s crazy!” Holtz said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.
I was happy when Title IX came out.
But here we are, many years later, and now we can’t even ensure women competing against women.
It’s crazy!

Holtz appears to be referring to the recent announced changes to Title IX under current United States President Joe Biden.
Back in April, the Joe Biden administration and the Department of Education announced changes to Title IX to allow transgender women and girls protection and equal rights, as well, which also protects their right to compete in sports at the grade school and college level.
Needless to say, this is not a popular change with Holtz.
