We’re a month from the Trade Deadline, but Major League Baseball fans were excited on Sunday afternoon. News broke that a trade went down between two American League clubs, including one of the very best of the bunch.

On Sunday, the Yankees announced that they acquired veteran third baseman J.D. Davis. The Yankees traded infielder Jordan Groshans in exchange for Davis.

The Yankees’ PR X account made the news official.

New York owns the best record in Major League Baseball. They are 52-27 entering Sunday and hold a 1.5-game lead over the second-place Baltimore Orioles. The Philadelphia Phillies have 51 wins, neck and neck with the Yanks, over in the National League.

Will the Yankees be done here? It’s probably not likely. There’s a few more issues the team has to tend to with a month or so to go until the MLB Trade Deadline. So don’t expect the Bronx Bombers to be done yet.

The MLB world had much to say about this trade.

Davis is hitting .236 with an OPS of .670 this season. We’ll see what he can add to the fray for a Yankees team very serious about winning this season.
