San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle is known far and wide for his on-field abilities. But fans of Kittle also know that he’s a big fan of professional wrestling. Last April, Kittle appeared at WWE’s WrestleMania 39 extravaganza.
That appearance came with a price. To fans who enjoyed seeing the Niners tight end mix it up in pro wrestling… don’t expect it to be a constant.
According to an ESPN.com article, 49ers general manager John Lynch texted Kittle after the All-Pro’s appearance at WrestleMania.
“Hope you had fun,” Lynch texted Kittle, according to Marc Raimondi of ESPN. “Don’t do that again.”
Kittle’s cameo didn’t result in an injury to the Pro Bowl tight end. But NFL teams obviously would have plenty of reason to be cautious of their players participating in pro wrestling.
We’re a long ways removed from the days of Dennis Rodman and Karl Malone appearing in World Championship Wrestling. That was, to be fair, an incredible time to be a wrestling fan. But, if we get cameos now, don’t expect them to be physical. Heck, Patrick Mahomes even appeared on a recent episode of WWE Raw.
Kittle and the Niners will hope to get the franchise’s elusive sixth Super Bowl Championship in 2024.
