The Los Angeles Chargers wrapped up signing their rookie class on Wednesday. Los Angeles tidied up the loose ends by signing star rookie wide receiver Ladd McConkey.
At Georgia, McConkey was a standout, playing for two of the Bulldogs’ National Championship teams in 2021 and 2022.
The reliable pass-catcher will have Justin Herbert throwing him the ball now, so there’s plenty of reasons to be excited. When the Chargers announced they signed McConkey, that excitement did break out.

The Chargers nicknamed him “Lightning Ladd” when they announced they signed the star rookie to a deal. Now that all of the team’s draftees have been signed, Los Angeles has a full roster to play with.
Los Angeles went through significant changes in the offseason, and on offense, they’ll have to replace some significant production. Keenan Allen and Mike Williams are no longer on the team. Herbert has fewer solid options right now, but the team needed to go through an overhaul. Cap-crunching, among other things, caused a huge shift for the team. McConkey hopes to provide a spark to the new offense. And so far, it seems it’s a welcomed one. Most have praised new coach Jim Harbaugh for the ways he’s coached the team up thus far, including Joey Bosa.
The NFL world, specifically Chargers fans, had much to say about this development.
