Golf legend Tiger Woods was given a special exemption to compete in the U.S. Open this week, but it did not go according to plan. And in a terrible turn of events, it sounds like there’s a chance that could have been the last time Woods ever participates in the prestigious event.
Tiger Woods finished with a three-over-par 73 that left him at seven over for the tournament at Pinehurst on Friday. As a result, he missed the cut, and he admitted that there was a possibility that this was the last time that he would ever compete at the U.S. Open.
“I thought I played well enough to be up there in contention. It just didn’t work out,” Woods said after he was officially eliminated from the tournament, according to Reuters.
“As far as my last Open Championship or U.S. Open Championship, I don’t know what that is. It may or may not be.”
Obviously, it’s pretty terrible news that this could have been the final U.S. Open for the legendary golfer and that news led to a lot of reactions on social media as a result.
Devastating to even hear him say that

We’ll have to see whether or not this does turn out to be the final U.S. Open for the golf legend.
