The Washington Commanders selected former LSU Tigers Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Jayden Daniels with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, presumably to become their next starting quarterback. And even though he hasn’t been with the team for long and is still adapting to the NFL game, it sounds like he’s already impressing one of his superstar teammates.
During a recent press conference, Washington Commanders star wide receiver Terry McLaurin had some strong words of praise for Jayden Daniels as he made it clear that he has already been impressed by what the rooke quarterback has shown so far.
“He’s humble, but he’s confident in his ability,” McLaurin said according to the Washington Commanders team website. “He’s played at the highest level. He’s played against really good competition, and he knows that he can make all the throws. He’s not putting the cart before the horse. He’s literally taking this thing day-by-day.”
Obviously, the Commanders have high hopes for Daniels – they wouldn’t have selected him with the No. 2 overall pick in the draft if they didn’t – and it sounds like he is already starting to live up to some of those expectations during practice.
We’ll have to see how he performs this season.
