Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders has received some criticism in recent months for how he has treated some of his players, which may have played a part in the mass exodus on the team via the transfer portal.
Others have claimed that Sanders leans towards favoring his sons in comparison to the rest of his players. Some evidence supporting that narrative emerged on Friday, which included demands that players must attend an event to support Shedeur Sanders.
Shedeur has recently started putting out music, which is seemingly gaining a bit of traction. So much so that Sanders opened for big-name rapper Lil Wayne back in April, where he debuted his solo song ‘Perfect Timing’.
According to Athlon Sports via Colorado player sources, Deion Sanders made the event mandatory for all Colorado players. One source described the threat from Deion Sanders as a “big distraction” and Sanders playing “Daddy Ball”.
“The Wayne concert was the final straw for a few players who hit the transfer portal,” the source said. “When Coach Prime told us we all had to be there to support Shedeur as a rapper, they were not happy at all. To be honest, it was nothing but a huge distraction and Daddy Ball was being played.”
If this source is to be believed, it certainly helps explain the 42 players on the Colorado roster who have decided to enter the transfer portal since the end of the 2023 season.
To demand that players attend an event centered around promoting your son certainly seems like special treatment for Shedeur to a whole new level. And it’s fairly understandable as to why some players don’t want to be in that kind of environment.
