Over the past two seasons with the Cleveland Browns, Amari Cooper has emerged as the biggest star at the wide receiver position for the Browns, putting up back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons during his two seasons with the team. But quarterback Deshaun Watson thinks he is more than just the best receiver on the team – he thinks he’s the best in the league.
During a recent interview, Deshaun Watson made it clear that he thinks Amari Cooper is “the best in the game” when it comes to NFL wide receivers, pointing out that he has even been able to put up big numbers playing primarily with backup quarterbacks the past two seasons.
“He’s the best in the game, and I believe that,” Watson told reporters according to Pro Football Talk. “He shows it each and every year. He showed it the last two years with different quarterbacks. So, I think you got to put him up there, if not the best.”
Cooper is in the midst of a holdout from mandatory minicamp as he seeks a new contract from the team, but it’s clear that he is an important part of the team’s offense, and even Watson himself feels that.
