Darren Waller is retiring. The New York Giants tight end who made the Pro Bowl with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2020 is done playing professional football.
Waller, 31, has played his last down in the NFL. Ian Rapoport reported that Waller informed the Giants of his plans to retire this weekend.
“TE Darren Waller has informed the team he plans to retire, walking away at the age of 31 after just one season with NYG,” Rapoport said. “Waller hasn’t attended workouts, and the team had known for some time he may not play.”

In 2015, the Baltimore Ravens drafted Waller in the sixth round with the 204th overall pick. Since 2015, Waller played at times like one of the best tight ends in the NFL. 2020 was his best season as a pro, by far, as he recorded 107 receptions, 1,196 yards, and nine touchdowns.
He recorded 350 receptions, 4,124 yards, and 20 receiving touchdowns in his career. He scored just one in his final season as a Giant.
Waller has gone through an interesting few months, so hopefully retirement brings him peace.
