The Michigan Wolverines will have a new quarterback this upcoming season after J.J. McCarthy declared for the NFL Draft where he was selected with the No. 10 overall pick by the Minnesota Vikings. But head coach Sherrone Moore was not interested in talking about the team’s quarterbacks this week.
During an interview at the SMSB National College Showcase on Thursday, Sherrone Moore was asked how comfortable he is waiting to name a starting quarterback until later in the offseason and he quickly shut down any conversation about the quarterbacks
“Very comfortable,” Moore said in regards to waiting to name Michigan’s starting QB, according to On3. “I’m not going to answer any questions about the quarterback situation.”
Alex Orji seems to be best positioned to be the team’s starting quarterback this upcoming season, but Davis Warren, and Jack Tuttle are also involved in the competition.
It’s not clear who exactly will emerge to win the starting job this preseason, but whoever it is will have big shoes to fill after McCarthy led the team to a national title and became a top-10 pick.
We’ll have to see who earns the role, but Moore certainly was not providing any hints this week.
