Former Georgia Bulldogs running back Herschel Walker is facing some pretty brutal accusations from Georgia Republicans that he is refusing to use his leftover campaign funds to support the Georgia GOP or Donald Trump in the upcoming November election. But he seems to be flatly denying that he even has those funds.
According to a report from Politico, Herschel Walker has more than $4 million in leftover campaign funds that he seemingly has no intention of using to support Donald Trump or the Georgia GOP even though the Georgia GOP is “nearly broke” and “in dire need of money.” But when Brittany Gibson of Politico reached Walker over the phone and asked for comment on these allegations, he denied he even had this money.
“It wasn’t money left in my account. Everyone keeps saying that,” Walker said.
Politico said that when Walker was asked to clarify what he meant by that, Walker quickly ended the call, saying “we could talk about it some time,” but has not since responded to any other inquiries.
According to the latest financial disclosures filed to the Federal Election Commission obtained by Politico, however, Walker’s account still had $4.3 million in his account as of the end of March.
