The Ohio State Buckeyes are expected to have one of the most talented teams in the entire country returning this upcoming season after the vast majority of their draft-eligible underclassmen decided to return for one more season at the college level. And it sounds like they have one thing on their mind: beating their archrival Michigan Wolverines.
The Ohio State Buckeyes dominated Michigan for the better part of two decades before Michigan flipped the script on the rivalry in 2021, winning three consecutive games over the Buckeyes. Ohio State hasn’t won a game against Michigan since 2019, meaning there isn’t a single player on the roster who has tasted victory over Michigan. And returning star defensive end Jack Sawyer wants to change that.
“Being from Columbus, loving the Buckeyes through and through since I was a little kid, I wanted to leave a legacy (at Ohio State). That’s our main goal coming back,” Sawyer said on The Bobby Carpenter Show with Bobby Carpenter and Joshua Perry. “We want to bring a national championship and the Gold Pants back to Columbus.”
It’s pretty clear that beating Michigan is the most important thing on the minds of the players returning to Ohio State this season. We’ll have to see whether or not they can accomplish that mission.
