The Miami Dolphins have one of the most star-studded offenses in the entire league between Tua Tagovailoa, Jaylen Waddle, and Tyreek Hill. But in a pretty brutal turn of events, it sounds like the team might have to find a way to give all of them more money this offseason.
Tua Tagovailoa is headed into the final year of his rookie contract and will need a new contract. Meanwhile, the team worked out a contract extension for Waddle which they announced on Thursday morning. Those new were expected and have been for months. But in addition to those new contracts, it sounds like the team might now have to find a way to pay Tyreek Hill more money, too.
According to a report from Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Hill has been calling for more money from the Dolphins for months as he is radically underpaid compared to other top receivers.
“Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the effort to address Hill’s contract began after the 2023 season ended. That’s when Hill had 1,799 receiving yards, despite a late-season ankle injury that derailed what seemed to be a likely 2,000-yard campaign,” Florio wrote on Thursday.
Obviously, Hill seeking more money in addition to the new contracts for Waddle and Tagovialoa is a pretty brutal problem for the Dolphins to have this offseason as all three of those contracts will undoubtedly eat up a lot of salary cap space making it difficult for the team to bring in new players in the future.
Needless to say, the Dolphins are going to have to figure this out.
