Scottie Scheffler’s arrest ahead of Round 2 of the PGA Championship earlier this month took the sports world by storm. But luckily, it seems like Scheffler can finally put this nast incident behind him.
Following his arrest, Scheffler faced one felony count of assault of a police officer, in addition to three other misdemeanor charges after being pulled out of his car by an officer.
Scheffler stayed adamant about the entire situation being a “severe miscommunication in a chaotic situation”. And it seems like the Jefferson County prosecutors in the case against him tend to agree with him.
On Wednesday afternoon, Jefferson County prosecutors filed a motion in court Wednesday afternoon to dismiss the case against Scheffler. A judge granted the motion without issue, meaning that this situation is fully behind Scheffler as he will no longer face any more charges in this case.
Controversy arose about this case after it was discovered that the officers involved in this incident did not turn their body cameras on.
Ultimately, according to TMZ, it was determined by the prosecutors in the case that Scheffler’s story of this entire situation being a huge misunderstanding was actually corroborated by the evidence they had collected.
Scheffler can now focus solely on golf moving forward, which is obviously a big relief as he looks to continue his impressive stretch of play as of late.
Fans took notice of this news and are also quite happy that this nast controversy is behind the No. 1 golfer in the world.

Given everything that went down, there is obviously an argument that Scheffler could have even pursued legal action of his own against the Louisville Metro Police Department for how the situation was handled.
But understandably, it seems like he is eager to put this situation behind him.
