Over the weekend, rumors began to circulate that the Utah Utes could be headed to the ACC after previously agreeing to join the Big 12. But it doesn’t sound like that’s going to happen, after all.
Utah agreed to join the Big 12 this offseason as a result of the collapse of the Pac 12. There were some rumors over the weekend that Utah had decided to join the ACC instead of the Big 12, but the school shut down all of those rumors with a statement on Tuesday.
“We are proud to be entering into membership in the Big 12 Conference in the coming months [and ] excited to join our new colleagues and member institutions. A report over the weekend that suggested otherwise is completely fabricated [and] irresponsible,” Utah said in a statement to college football reporter Brett McMurphy.

Utah is one of four schools from the now-defunct Pac-12 conference that will be joining the Big 12 this season, joining the Colorado Buffaloes, the Arizona Wildcats, and Arizona State Sun Devils who will also be joining the conference this upcoming season.
It will certainly be interesting to see how the four teams fare in the Big 12 this upcoming season especially with the departure of Texas and Oklahoma to the SEC..
