As mentioned in previous post by Big Skeezy, Sony recently announced that they were killing any and all manufacturing of the SONY Walkman cassette player moving forward. Sadly, for music lovers around the world, Panasonic got some penis envy and decided to shelf Technic Turntables. This is a blow for music, for music lovers, and for a culture of hip hop which would have ceased to exist without these holy grails.
“On October 20, the company said that it was winding down production of the Technics SL-1200MK6 analog turntable, the SH-EX1200 analog audio mixer and the RP-DH1200 and RP-DJ1200 stereo headphones due to challenges in the marketplace. Last year, Japan’s last remaining vinyl pressing plant produced around 400,000 discs from its multifloor factory in Yokohama’s Tsurumi Ward, NOWHERE nearthe industry’s peak of 70 million four decades ago.”
In honor of this sad day please enjoy some of the finest moments featuring a beautiful Technic piece of machinery.
You can fast forward the below 1:25 in.
