The 2024 United States Presidential Election between Donald Trump and Joe Biden is drawing near. And as the nation prepares for the election, some sports stars have already made their opinions about the candidates known previously, and that includes PGA Tour superstar Tiger Woods, who once made his opinion of Trump very clear.
During an interview at a golf tournament back in 2018, Tiger Woods was asked for his thoughts on Donald Trump and he made it clear that he respected Trump as the current president of the United States – just as he would any other president.
“Well, he’s the president of the United States. You have to respect the office. No matter who is in the office, you may like, dislike personality or the politics, but we all must respect the office,” Woods said back in 2018 according to ESPN.
As for his more personal feelings toward Trump, Woods revealed that he knew Trump for “a number of years” previously and had even played golf with him.
“Well, I’ve known Donald for a number of years,” Woods told reporters. “We’ve played golf together. We’ve had dinner together. I’ve known him pre-presidency and obviously during his presidency.”
Obviously, this doesn’t necessarily mean Woods will be voting for him in the upcoming election, but it is clear that he has a pretty cordial relationship with Trump.
And it sounds like whoever wins the upcoming election, Woods will respect them.
