Over the past several weeks, there have been a lot of unsubstantiated rumors about Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson somehow joining the Cincinnati Bengals to play alongside college teammates Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase, particularly after Bengals receiver Tee Higgins requested a trade from the team. And Monday’s news certainly didn’t quite that chatter.

Justin Jefferson is currently negotiating a potential contract extension with the Minnesota Vikings, but the two sides have not reached a deal yet. And on Monday, NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that Jefferson decided not to attend the team’s OTAs as a result.

“WR Justin Jefferson, who has been in talks with the Vikings regarding a contract extension, was not spotted at the team’s training facility today for the start of organized team activities, per team sources,” Schefter said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

While this move from Jefferson doesn’t necessarily mean anything for Cincinnati and he’s still expected to remain in Minnesota, it sure got a reaction from Bengals fans who seem to think it could be a sign that Jefferson will ultimately end up in Cincinnati.

Obviously, there’s currently no real season to think he will end up in Cincinnati, but that isn’t stopping Bengals fans from thinking about it.
