Typically when a quarterback goes from college football to the NFL, there is a bit of a learning curve as he adapts from the college game to the professional game. But for new Minnesota Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy, it sounds like he was comfortable pretty immediately.
This weekend, J.J. McCarthy took part in his first practice with the Minnesota Vikings as the team began its rookie mincamp, but it doesn’t sound like he was too overwhelmed with what was being asked of him. In fact, it sounds like he felt quite comfortable in his first action with the team.
“It didn’t feel like my first day,” McCarthy said according to ESPN. “I’ve been going over the offense for a long time now. So being able to [go] out there and perform and execute, that’s new, but it was nothing that was overwhelming or too much.”
The team selected McCarthy with the No. 10 overall pick in the NFL Draft last month and obviously hopes that he will be a long-term replacement for Kirk Cousins, who left the team this offseason to sign with the Atlanta Falcons.
We’ll have to see how McCarthy performs this upcoming season after approaching his first practice with such confidence.
