Joe Biden Syndication: Journal Sentinel

One of the long-standing sports traditions in the United States comes when championship-winning teams visit the White House in celebration of their victory. But unfortunately, the recent visit of the Las Vegas Aces featured an extremely awkward moment when Joe Biden made a bit of an embarrassing mistake when attempting to praise Aces star Candace Parker.

The vast majority of sports fans are well familiar with Parker, who is undoubtedly one of the best women’s basketball players in recent memory, recently calling it quits on her professional basketball career after 16 seasons in the WNBA.

Parker was able to go out on top with a championship as a member of the Aces. But Joe Biden seemingly didn’t realize that Parker was a player, instead praising her as one of the “greatest all-time coaches” during his speech towards the Aces players.

“While she couldn’t be here,” Biden said of Parker via TMZ, “I want to acknowledge someone who we consider one of the greatest all-time coaches — Candace Parker. She announced her retirement from the game and I wanna thank her for an incredible career.”

Parker has accomplished nearly everything there is to do in the WNBA. But the one thing that she hasn’t done, contrary to Biden’s statement, is coach in the WNBA.

Naturally, many sports fans took to social media to correct Biden, while others criticized him for the mistake.
