Anthony Richardson saw his rookie season cut short last year after he suffered from a season-ending shoulder injury that derailed what seemed to be a promising start. But he’ll be back this year, and it sounds like his teammates are excited about his return.
Colts left guard Quenton Nelson had some high praise for Richardson as he makes his return to the field, indicating that he loves what he sees from the young quarterback.
“It’s great,” Nelson said according to Mike Chappell of Fox 59. “He’s everything you want in a quarterback. Seeing him work around the building and working in silence and then going out there and being a leader. He’s been very on the details, and he’s looking good.”
Colts wide receiver Josh Downs is also excited to have his starting quarterback back, and he thinks it’s going to have a big impact on the roster.
“AR is excited, and I think we’re going to be explosive,” Downs said. “[He’s] joking around a lot, taking control of the team. He’s excited to be here. I’m really seeing him grow and mature. I’m getting closer to him each and every day; everybody is. I see a real competitor and a real gamer.”
That’s some high praise. We’ll have to see how Richardson actually performs.
