After spending the first six years of his NFL career with the New York Giants, Saquon Barkley left the team this offseason to join the Philadelphia Eagles. Understandably, fans were not happy to see him go, especially to a division rival, but it sounds like returning to the Giants wasn’t exactly an option this offseason.

In an interaction with a fan who claimed that he “bailed” on New York on social media this week, Saquon Barkley revealed the shocking truth that he didn’t even get an offer to return to the New York Giants this season, so he had to sign somewhere else and ultimately signed with the Philadelphia Eagles.

“Let me educate some of you fans here… I can’t bail or become a traitor if I never got an offer to come back.. so I went to the organization I felt that was the best and after already being here for a month man I’m excited to be a eagle ! Go birds,” Barkley said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

Barkley is surely referring to the 2024 offseason because there were reportedly talks and contract offers between Barkley and the Giants back in 2023 and 2022. But it’s still rather shocking and brutal that the Giants didn’t even offer him a contract or try to negotiate in 2024.
