Detroit Lions star offensive tackle Penei Sewell will be playing with the team for the foreseeable future after he recently signed a long-term contract extension to remain with the team. But that doesn’t mean he is patient with waiting for the team to be successful.
During a recent interview, Penei Sewell made it very clear that he does not want to wait long for the team to win a Super Bowl title. He wants a Lombardi Trophy and he wants it immediately.
“To win,” Sewell said according to the Detroit Lions team website. “We need it all. I had a conversation with [St. Brown] after we just found out we were getting the contracts and going to sign that that’s our goal. It’s to hoist that trophy at the end of the day and to just win. All those individual accolades don’t mean nothing. I want the big boy and I want it now.”
Obviously, the Lions got very close to the Super Bowl last year, losing to the San Francisco 49ers despite holding a lead in the fourth quarter of the NFC Championship Game. We’ll have to see whether or not the team can get back there this year.
