The Colorado Buffaloes took the college football world by storm last season under head coach Deion Sanders, for the first three weeks of the season… And then, they snapped back into reality, losing eight out of the next nine games to finish with a 4-8 record on the year. But Sanders has higher hopes for the 2024-25 season, which he stated at the team’s spring game on Saturday.
Considering all of the hype Sanders and Colorado had heading into last season, the 4-8 record on the year has to be considered a bit of a disappointment. But to be fair to him, this same Colorado team did finish with a 1-11 record in 2022. So it is at least an improvement.
Sanders made it clear during Colorado’s spring game that he plans on improving even more next season. In fact, he proclaimed that his team will at least get to a bowl game this coming season.
“We’re gonna get you to a bowl game,” said Sanders to the fans in attendance for the event.
If Colorado is going to get to a bowl game, they will need to win at least six games to become bowl-eligible. And that may be a struggle for them, particularly because they are entering perhaps a tougher conference than the one that they were in, as this coming season will be their first in the Big 12.
One positive that the program does have going for them is that they seemingly have a true star on their hands at quarterback in Shedeur Sanders, who could very well be a top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft with a good year this coming season.
Only time will tell whether Deion Sanders’ proclamation will end up coming true. But he sure seems to believe in his team quite a bit compared to others.
