The Dallas Cowboys have decided to bring back former superstar running back Ezekiel Elliott to add some talent to their running backs room after the departure of Tony Pollard this offseason. But while the team will undoubtedly be hoping for Elliott to return to his dominant form, the stats don’t exactly suggest that he’s a terribly dominant player at this point in his career.
As NFL analyst Pat Thorman pointed out on social media this week, Ezekiel Elliott had the worst season of his entire career last season with the New England Patriots and was one of the worst running backs in the entire league.
“Ezekiel Elliott is coming off of his career worst rushing season (ypc, yards after contact, one 15-yard run). He was horrific in pass protection (most pressures allowed among RBs, 98th of 99 RBs in PFF pass-block grade). At this stage he’s more of a problem than solution,” Thorman said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

Elliott led the league in rushing twice during his first stint with the Cowboys, but it seems that he is not that player anymore.
