Now that the 2024 NFL Draft has concluded, it is interesting to look at what may happen in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft. And early on, Colorado star quarterback Shedeur Sanders quickly emerged as a favorite among those setting the odds for the event.
Sanders excelled from an individual standpoint in his first season at Colorado, throwing for 3,230 yards and 27 touchdowns with only three interceptions.
But his impressive play didn’t exactly help his team produce as you would expect. Colorado famously lost the final six games of the season after starting the year with a 3-0 record, ultimately finishing with a 4-8 record on the year.
What his impressive play did do was get him on the radar of NFL teams. According to DraftKings Sportsbook, Sanders is listed at even more (+100) to be the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Some other names worth monitoring that could find themselves in that conversation are Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers and Georgia quarterback Carson Beck, who both sit at +300 to go at No. 1.
Naturally, fans had plenty to say about these numbers when they were released, as some were a bit skeptical that it will ultimately be Sanders.

We’re obviously a year away from when this conversation actually matters. And players emerge every year that are not expected to, so plenty could change between now and then.
But it is interesting nonetheless to see Sanders as the overwhelming favorite to go at No. 1 at the moment. Particularly because he hasn’t exactly accomplished all that much from a team aspect at the FBS level yet.
It should sure be interesting to see how this develops over the next year. But for the time being, Sanders leads the pack amongst all the draft-eligible players to go first overall.
